Learning Tagalog
Learning tagalog is not as hard as some people may think. The tagalog language is in fact influenced by several different languages so don’t wonder if some words sounds familiar. Anyways, here are 3 ways to learn tagalog and speak it later on…
3 Ways to Learn Tagalog
Tagalog is the most widely spoken of all the native languages in the Philippines. English is spoken in the cities but once you get out into the provinces you will need to learn at least one of the native languages. Tagalog is not only the most widely spoken but contains enough of the other languages that you will get by anywhere in the country.
In this article I want to teach you 3 ways to learn Tagalog. We will consider some free ideas, some formal ideas and then some more practical ideas.
One of the 3 ways to learn Tagalog is to simply subscribe to or watch Philippine television. If you watch enough of Waa Waa Wee or those old Bruce Lee style bad movies you will surely pick up the language. It might take a lot longer than some of the more formal methods but at least you will be on your way. Try and get movies with English subtitles so you can also see what they are saying. You can also reverse that and get English versions with Tagalog subtitles and learn that way.
The second of the 3 ways to learn Tagalog is to attend a formal training college. Do a search in Google or one of the other search engines and see what schools, colleges or universities are offering formal training. This can be rather expensive and also take a while but at least you will have a structured learning pattern.
The last of our 3 ways to learn Tagalog is to purchase a product where you can sit down and learn at your own pace. There are many ways you can do this but here are my favourites.
* Learn Tagalog through a DVD – Watch the DVD and participate in all the activities. You can always rewind it if you miss something and it can be very interactive. You will hear the way the words are spoken and sound like a local.
* Learn Tagalog through a Book – Read the book at your own pace. Stop and go back if you are unsure and read anywhere you like. You won’t get the pronunciation correct at first but you are well on your way to learning.
Learn Tagalog through software – This method can have the added advantage of a book as well as some verbal training. You can download it straight to your computer and start learning right away.
